WHAT TO EXPECT

step1

Initial Meeting:
The design process begins with a meeting between the client and Peter Joyce, owner and manager of the landscape division. Peter listens to the client's wish list, their intended use of the space and history of the property and garden. Questions are asked such as how much time does the client want to spend maintaining the garden? How is the garden used? What works or doesn't work visually, or in terms of the function of the space. What are the positive and negative features of the garden (views, privacy, etc.)?. The client's wish list and issues are identified and the overall scope of the project and a budget are determined.

step2

Design:
Peter discusses the project with Erica Gordon, our landscape designer, who them visits the site to gather measurements and gain a better understanding of the site. Erica designs a landscape plan that balances the needs and requests of the client with a visually pleasing composition that enhances the look of the house and garden. Many factors influence design such as incorporating existing elements such as pools and decks, the style and character of the house and how the garden is to be used. Even the
decorating style and colours favoured by the client inside the house provide input into the design process.

2nd Meeting and Revisions:
A second meeting between Peter and the client is held to present the plan and written estimate. Project scheduling, implementation and terms of payment are determined at this time. We require a 25 per cent deposit upon confirmation of the work and three balanced payments through the course of the work with the final payment due upon completion. When the plan is finalized, a unique timeline for the project is discussed with the client.

Construction:
Cudmore's experienced construction and horticulture crews carry out their work with a minimum of inconvenience and disruption to the client's household and neighbours. Our uniformed crews work together in teams to ensure a safe, clean job site. Peter is on-site daily and open communication between Peter, the work crew and the client as the project unfolds is key to a successful installation. We work with a select, like-minded group of trades to provide a complete landscape service from asphalt paving, to automatic irrigation and nightlighting to highlight your new garden.

We're always learning. Even though many of our staff have horticultural diplomas or apprenticeship papers, they continue to upgrade and enhance their skills through professional development courses and seminars during the off-season.
